Americans in Their Own Words
In the 2010s-2020s, the US has been increasingly characterized by political polarization. One characteristic of this polarization has been that many people have curated their social worlds to a point where they rarely have conversations outside their bubble, exacerbating "us-vs-them" tensions. These pages include life stories from folks across the political spectrum, told in their own words under pseudonyms. We invite you to read about how the other half - however you define it - lives. We recommend choosing the "read stories randomly" option and taking the "guess the political affiliation" quiz at the end of each story, but we have provided other ways to engage with these pages below.
